New York State Seal of Civic Readiness

New Rochelle High School is a proud participant in the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness program. The Seal of Civic Readiness is a formal recognition that a student has attained a high level of proficiency in terms of civic knowledge, civic skills, civic mindset, and civic experiences.

Any student with an interest in social studies and civics can apply.

Social studies teachers will assist students in completing the criteria in order to earn the seal. All freshmen will complete a civic knowledge project as part of their global history class starting the process to earning the seal. The seal is awarded to successful candidates at graduation.

In order to obtain the Seal of Civic Readiness, a student must complete all requirements for a New York State local or Regents diploma and earn a total of six points with at least two points in Civic Knowledge and at least two points in Civic Participation.
